2008 WORKPLAN

We have big plans for the 2008 growing season, and hope the farm will continue to grow more efficient, more responsive to community interests and more successful each year, as we gain experience and strengthen capacity. Here are some of our goals for this season:

  • Grow a wide variety of produce on 1½ acres at Brookwood Farm and the Bradley Estate.

  • Grow a ¼ acre berries (strawberries and raspberries) at the Bradley Estate.

  • Operate a Community Supported Agriculture program with 100 members.

  • Sell produce at 3 local Farmer’s Markets (Milton, Mattapan and Roslindale).

  • Sell produce at our self-serve farmstand in the shed at Brookwood.

  • Donate produce to food pantries and food assistance programs in Milton Canton and Boston.

  • Expand bee keeping to 3 hives at Brookwood and Bradley farms.

  • Put in a well and irrigation system at the Bradley farm to increase production capacity.

  • Purchase tractor and cultivation equipment to improve farming efficiency and output.

  • Run a summer paid internship program with 4-6 teens from Milton and Mattapan.

  • Host school, camp and community groups at the farm for volunteer and educational programs.

  • Acquire a van to provide transportation and improve access to the farm.

  • Hold potluck get-togethers and educational workshops at the farm for farm members.
